The Graduated License Program offered by Arrowsmith Driver Education is an I.C.B.C. approved twelve month course, consisting of fifteen hours one on one in-car driving instruction (one hour lessons) and eighteen hours of driving theory in a classroom setting.
The theory section of the course is facilitated by four different instructors who are members of the Central Vancouver Island Driving School Association. The classroom is located at Parkway Driving Academy, 8-4376 Boban Drive..
The classes take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm for a three week period. The emphasis of the theory session is to provide a hands-on, student involved course with role playing, vacillated lectures, guest speakers, videos, purpose-built games, quizzes and a pass/fail mid-course and end-of-course test. We realize that most students have already spent a full day in school so our aim is to provide an interesting and informative course.
The fifteen hours of practical (in car) section of the course is taken in a dual control, automatic school car and includes basic vehicle control, city and highway traffic driving, and a collision avoidance emergency maneuver session.
To qualify for two high school credits, the student must also record a further forty-five hours in car with a qualified co-driver over the next twelve months. If the student stays free of violations and at fault crashes for the next 18 months of the Novice stage he can then take the class 5 test.
